Polish artisans began creating glass ornaments in the beginning of the 20th Century. There was a factory in the south of Poland owned by the Rylski family and before World War II they produced beautiful hand made ornaments. Unfortunately, when the war was over there was a greater demand for laboratory glass and the factory changed its profile.
Komozja was established in 1945 when a blower named Kozak got together with a family called Mostowski and opened a factory of their own. Mrs. Motowski's maiden name was Zjawiony. Using the first letters of each last name for their business, (KO-MO-ZJA) they started producing glass cigarette holders, vials and glass ornaments. To date the family continues this tradition of glass making in an ever increasing demand for this unique art.
In 2002 the Mostowski family introduced a very unique line called "Platinum Collection". This creation would be designed to replicate 10th Century art. At the end of the 10th Century, there were many local artisans in Poland producing blown glass beads and decorative ornaments. They used traditional methods and techniques dating back to Roman and Byzantine times. Later new, advanced methods of glass blowing came into fashion, many of which remain in use to the present day.
